MEDIA RELEASE

TAMPA--Today a Federal Grand Jury returned a one count indictment charging a senior executive of a company doing business at the port of Tampa with paying a bribe to the president of International Longshoremens Local (ILA) 1402.

Joseph F. Casella (CASELLA), 58, of Tampa was charged in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida at Tampa with violating the Taft-Hartley Act, a federal law outlawing bribery and corrupt activities between corporate and union officials.

If convicted of the charges, CASELLA faces a potential maximum term of five (5) years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.00 dollars.

CASELLAs case is being investigated by the United States Attorneys Office, agents of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). The investigation and prosecution are being supervised by Assistant United States Attorney Jeffrey J. Del Fuoco of the Special Prosecutions Section.

The investigation is continuing.
