Hospital Room Shook Up in First Seismic Experiment of Its Kind

In its initial public demonstration, the world's first seismic testing apparatus for nonstructural components performed exactly as designed, providing engineers with the first realistic, experimental method of simulating and evaluating how earthquakes damage building equipment, contents and components. The test subjected a hospital room, complete with test-dummy patient, to the intensity of earthquake shaking. Full Story
