Evaluation of Joint and Crack Load Transfer Final Report

Research/Reference: useful for researchers doing further work in the pavement area as well as those developing improved testing and design procedures. Includes documents of historical value.

Primary Topic: Rigid Pavement

Description: Report on a study to evaluate the load transfer efficiency across JPCP joints and CRCP cracks in LTPP GPS, SPS and SMS test sites based on deflection data collected over time and trafficking experienced by the pavements. The data shows clear trends in the importance of good LTE to control key distresses resulting from a lack of it, i.e. faulting in JPCP and punchouts in CRCP.
