San Clemente Island Fox

Research Task: 8327CND.3.0
Task Manager: Tom Stanley

Basic ecological information on the San Clemente Island fox, such as habitat use, productivity, and sources of mortality, are sorely lacking. Recently, a U.S. Navy contract was awarded to Colorado State University (CSU) to investigate the Island fox, a state-listed threatened species in California, to obtain basic ecological information. This task represents a collaboration between the USGS Fort Collins Science Center (FORT) and CSU, wherein FORT is providing (1) expertise to CSU on the best ways to sample San Clemente Island fox populations, (2) statistical guidance on sampling and analysis data, and (3) new analytical models where needed.
