The New Hampshire Dept. of Environmental Services and the Narragansett Bay Commission in Rhode Island have each been awarded a $275,000 EPA grant to support innovative approaches for improving environmental permitting programs, which impose limits on pollution emissions to the air, water, and land.

Cash Up in Smoke: Another Bay State Waste Hauler Cited for Idling

For the third time this year, EPA has cited a Massachusetts waste hauler for exceeding the state's five minute idling limit. Waste Management of Massachusetts, Inc. will pay a penalty of $27,200 for excessive idling at its Stoughton, Taunton and West Boylston, Mass. depots.
Agreements Ensure Funding for Cleanup of Southington, Conn. Superfund Site

The federal government, along with the state of Connecticut, has reached three related settlements with numerous responsible parties that will ensure funding for environmental clean up activities at the Solvents Recovery Service of New England Superfund (SRSNE) site in Southington, Conn.
Hartford-Area Planning Group Reaps Smart Growth Aid

A Connecticut organization representing 29 towns and cities in the Hartford area was chosen to receive technical assistance worth $45,000 from EPA, to help communities craft zoning regulations that use smart growth principles in developing affordable housing.
