Paper "Indicators of Marriage and Fertility in the United States from the American Community Survey: 2000 to 2003".
"Marital and Fertility Indicators from the American Community Survey: 2000-2003" presents new data on family formation and fertility in the United States for all 50 states and the District of Columbia. For the first time in any federal statistical data release, the estimated median age at first marriage of both men and women for every state will be available, showing contrasting geographical patterns in marriage across the nation. Estimates of married and unmarried-couple households will also be shown, illustrating the relationships between marital delays and living arrangements. In addition, for every state, characteristics of mothers with newborns will be available by the mother's labor force participation, poverty, and citizenship status, as well as her language ability. This paper combines four years of ACS data (2000 through 2003) to provide a sample of approximately 3 million households to simulate the targeted size of the American Community Survey at full implementation currently being collected in 2005.
