SEC XBRL RSS Feed Files

In continuing support of the SEC's Voluntary Program for Reporting Financial Information Using XBRL, RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed files for EDGAR XBRL submissions are now available to the public on the SEC website (http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/xbrlrss.xml). These files are updated nightly to contain link information and metadata (company name, accession number, CIK, filing date, file number, form type) for all XBRL filings that have been accepted by EDGAR so far.

RSS (which also stands for RDF Site Summary and Rich Site Summary) is an open XML-based standard for news syndication. It can be consumed by standard RSS readers or custom-built applications to automatically access standardized and up-to-date web information without necessarily having to use a browser.

The EDGAR XBRL RSS feed files contain links to and useful metadata for all EDGAR XBRL documents. This information can be subsequently consumed by applications that view, analyze and manipulate the XBRL tagged data contained in these documents.

There are now two RSS files that are available on the SEC website: the first continues to contain XBRL documents that use US GAAP as the base taxonomy in support of the XBRL Voluntary Financial Reporting Program on the EDGAR System (Release No. 33-8529); the second contains documents in which the Investment Company Institute's (ICI) Risk Return taxonomy is used as the base taxonomy in support of the Extension of Interactive Data Voluntary Reporting Program on the EDGAR System to Include Mutual Fund Risk/Return Summary Information (Release No. 33-8823). Please note that documents appearing in one XBRL RSS feed does not appear in the other. The two feeds are mutually exclusive.
