Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
May 2004

The U.S. Census Bureau collects and publishes demographic characteristics about the Asian population, on the one hand, and the native Hawaiian and other Pacific islander population on the other. These include age distribution, marital status, family type, educational attainment and income. For example, at the time of Census 2000, 49 percent of Asians and 73 percent of native Hawaiians and other Pacific islanders lived in the West ... in contrast, only 19 percent of the overall U.S. population lived there. This page can be used as a resource for these and additional facts about the Asian and native Hawaiian and other Pacific islander populations.
