UPS is the world's largest global transportation company, offering the most extensive range of e-commerce and supply-chain solutions for the movement of goods, information and funds.  With a fleet of 88,000 package cars, vans, tractors and motorcycles, UPS concentrates its transportation efforts in a variety of categories that include safety, technology and the environment.  UPS currently operates the largest private fleet of alternative fuel vehicles in North America, including compressed natural gas, hybrid electric, all electric, propane and liquefied natural gas.  UPS is a rolling laboratory for testing and assessing the efficiency and viability of new transportation technologies and alternative fuel sources.  The goal is to find ways to reduce emissions, dependency on fossil fuels and operating costs.  In addition, the company deploys state-of-the-art technologies and processes to keep its gasoline and diesel vehicles in top condition.  From efficient route-planning to preventative maintenance inspections to the use of highly fuel efficient engines, UPS works to economize fuel use, minimize emissions and maximize driver comfort and satisfaction.

"We believe that the greenest trucks on the road are painted brown.  At UPS, we've long been committed to reducing fuel use and emissions.  Public-private partnerships, like the EPA's SmartWay Program, are vital to encouraging industry-wide change.  We look forward to sharing best practices and striving for continued improvement through this program."
