Interface, Inc. is a global manufacturer of carpet and fabrics for the commercial, institutional, and residential interior markets with manufacturing locations on four continents and offices in more than 100 countries. Interface is the worldwide leader in the modular carpet segment, the leading U.S. manufacturer of panel fabrics and contract upholstery.

Interface seeks to demonstrate sustainability is in all its dimensions: people, process, product, place and profits, and, by 2020, influence the entire industry. With the support of BSR’s Green Freight Working Group, Interface is putting together a strategy to reduce the environmental footprint due to transportation of raw materials and finished product. Interface already participates in a number of emission offset programs for business air travel and company car fuel purchases. Through the QUEST elimination program, the company expects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by using local solutions to reduce the transportation impact of its raw materials and products, including consolidating shipments and packaging reduction.

The relationship between Interface and logistics company Meridian IQ is an outstanding example of the benefits of collaboration between SmartWay Transport Partners. These companies have worked together to use the SmartWay FLEET Model to do a more refined analysis of their complete environmental transportation footprint. In addition, Interface is the first U.S. company to commit to purchasing SmartWay certified vehicles for its light-duty fleet.

"Part of the mission of Interface, Inc. is to honor the places where we do business by endeavoring to become the first name in industrial ecology. We are striving for zero emissions in our operations, including the transportation of our raw materials and finished products. We believe that cooperative initiatives, such as SmartWay Transport, are an important step toward measuring and reducing our environmental ground transportation footprint."
