APL Logistics is part of Singapore-based NOL Group, a global transportation and logistics company. NOL Group is one of the world's largest ocean container carriers, with a fleet of approximately 100 ships operating in all major trade lanes. NOL operates nine marine terminals and provides intermodal transportation for clients to all points in the U.S.

APL Logistics offers origin and destination services for major international clients, including consolidation and deconsolidation, airfreight, freight management and warehouse management. APL has implemented a policy of allowing SmartWay Carriers first choice for loads. It also has conducted company-wide training about APL’s commitment to SmartWay. In addition, APL is reducing idling at all of its warehouses by using time-specific delivery and pick-up windows.

“Our Freight Management team quickly saw the value of becoming a part of, and promoting, the environmental benefits of controlling freight transport emissions. We joined the program earlier this year and have already been endorsing SmartWay to our carrier partners who are not yet involved. As we select carriers for new business opportunities, we have also begun including motor carrier's SmartWay involvement in the selection criteria.”

SmartWay Transport is maintained by EPA's Office of Transportation and Air Quality (OTAQ).
