Role/Crops/Team:


Cindy is an Agricultural Specialist for the Vegetable Project at NCRPIS. Duties include supervising and training student employees who assist with the planting and care of plant germplasm grown in greenhouse and field plots. This includes watching plants for disease or insect pests and applying appropriate chemical or biological control, monitoring accessions for pollinator needs, health, and effectiveness, hand harvest of seed increase, and processing and cleaning seeds. Cindy also enters descriptive data, records characterization and evaluation data, and digitally photographs plant and fruit specimens.





Special Interests:


One of Cindy’s primary interests is the Vegetable Project’s germplasm accession imaging program. The use of digital imaging as a tool helps to characterize accessions. These images will be made available to the international germplasm user community via the Germplasm Resources Information Network (GRIN).
