Coast Guard Responds to Hurricane Gustav

HH-65C helicopters respond to Hurricane Gustav

The first wave of Coast Guard HH-65C rescue helicopters responded Sept. 1, to conduct overflight search and rescue operations following the landfall of Hurricane Gustav in Louisiana. Coast Guard HH-65C rescue helicopter crews arrived in Mobile, Ala. Aug. 31, aboard a HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft in preparation for Hurricane Gustav response efforts along the Gulf Coast.

Rescue 21: Coast Guard Confirms Hoax Call

Coast Guard Sector Seattle received two distress calls via VHF channel 16 from a 7-year-old boy in Maple Valley, Wash., Sunday. In the first call, received at noon, the boy stated that he was drowning. At 6 p.m. he made a second call saying his boat had a hole in it and was sinking. Read more>>
