Peer-to-Peer Program for Work Zones
As demand increases on our nation's highways, and many reconstruction projects are underway, agencies are implementing processes and strategies to mitigate the impacts caused by work zones. As more and more practitioners are seeking information on such potential strategies, the FHWA has established the Work Zone Safety and Mobility Peer-to-Peer Program (WZ P2P) to facilitate the exchange of information among practitioners to help stimulate improvements toward making work zones work better. Similar to the Road Safety Audit and MUTCD Peer-to-Peer programs, the WZ P2P is devoted to specific issues related to work zone safety and mobility.
How does the WZ P2P work?
The WZ P2P can provide short-term assistance to agencies interested in the application of methods, tools, and strategies to improve work zone safety and mobility. The WZ P2P provides State and Local transportation agencies easy access to knowledgeable peers across a range of work zone issues, at no cost to these agencies. Assistance is available from practitioners who have expertise in work zone topic areas and have lessons learned and success stories to share from their own experiences. This assistance will in turn help agencies and the traveling public realize the benefits of improved safety and mobility in and around work zones. How do you get involved?
The WZ P2P is easy to use: send an E-mail to workzoneP2P@dot.gov, call Toll-free at 1-866-P2P-FHWA (1-866-727-3492), or Fax to 1-877-663-2263. The WZ P2P Program Coordinator will select a peer from the volunteer database who is able to answer your question and have the peer contact you directly.
