Cascadia Field Station

Quinault River, WA

The Cascadia Field Station (CFS) provides scientific research and the technology needed to support sound management and conservation of natural resources, with emphasis on national parks of the Pacific Northwest. Research areas include landscape ecology, remote sensing, spatial analysis, ecological monitoring, and geographical information science.

About Us
The CFS, based at the University of Washington in Seattle, re-opened in March 2006. The field station was established in 1970 to provide scientific support for the National Park Service and to complement the teaching and research missions of the College of Forest Resources at the University of Washington. USGS landscape ecologist Christian Torgersen collaborates with natural resource managers and university faculty, graduate students, and staff to conduct research on impacts of land use and natural disturbance on Pacific Northwest ecosystems.
