The Public Libraries Survey (PLS) collects nationwide descriptive statistics on all public libraries in the United States. These statistics include service measures such as reference transactions, public service hours, circulation, library visits, size of collections, staffing, operating income and expenditures, electronic technology and summary information about the number and type of public library service outlets. The PLS data is collected using WinPLUS software.
