Biographical Sketch:

I am a Research Ecologist for the USGS Sonoran Desert Research Station and a faculty member with the Wildlife and Fisheries Resources program in the School of Natural Resources at The University of Arizona. I have been intensively involved in research on and conservation of amphibians and reptiles in the southwestern U. S. and northwestern Mexico for close to two decades. My graduate students and I have been working on a variety of research projects including causes of recent declines in native ranid frogs in the Southwest, dispersal of invasive bullfrogs, estimating population sizes of ephemeral amphibians, effects of fire on western hog-nosed snakes, and the studies of reproduction and disease in desert tortoises. Before coming on board with USGS, I served as the State Herpetologist for Arizona.

I received a B.A. from Rice University in Mechanical Engineering, an M.S. from Washington State University in Environmental Science and Ecology, and a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from U. of A.
