Economic and Planning Studies at NIST

Economic Impact ---- Strategic Planning ---- Policy Support

The Strategic Planning and Economic Analysis (SPEA) group is a unit of the NIST Program Office. SPEA provides economic, technology assessment, and strategic planning expertise for NIST-wide policy analysis and planning activities. SPEA conducts cross-cutting strategic planning, economic impact, and economic role/policy studies that benefit several operating units or NIST as a whole; provides methodological assistance to OUs conducting their own economic analysis; and represents NIST in external economic policy exercises where topics are NIST-wide in scope.

The diagram below depicts SPEA’s roles within NIST’s planning and performance evaluation system. To view additional information about each of these areas, click on the corresponding circle.
