News From the Field Computer Science Researchers Explore Virtualization Potential for High-end Computing

Virginia Tech researchers are developing a new framework for customizing the system software environment that hosts the execution of parallel applications on emerging supercomputers built from multicore processors. The Virtualization Technologies for Application-Specific Operating Systems project is supported by a National Science Foundation computer science research grant.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is an independent federal agency that
