- A History of IDEA
In 2000, as part of the OSEP's 25th Anniversary Celebration of the passage of the Education of the Handicapped Act, (now known as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) OSEP published a brief history of the law's accomplishments since passage in 1975.

The Regulations
While regulations implementing IDEA 2004 are being prepared, the regulations implementing the 1997 law, published in the Federal Register on March 12, 1999, remain in effect, to the extent that they are consistent with the IDEA 2004 statute.
