Students with Disabilities and Limited-English-Proficient (SD/LEP) Students Questionnaire

To ensure a fully representative sample of students across the nation, NAEP makes testing accommodations available to students with disabilities and students with limited English proficiency. Collecting additional information about these students provides educational policymakers with a broader understanding of these students' special needs in school curricula. The SD/LEP questionnaire is completed for each student who is selected to participate in the assessment sample and:

This SD/LEP questionnaire, which is completed by someone at the school knowledgeable about the student, asks about the student's background, the special programs in which the student participates, and the reason for the SD/LEP classification. This questionnaire is completed for each SD, LEP, or SD/LEP student in the sample, whether or not that student is included in the assessment.
