The Conservation Biology Program - Contaminants Group at the Forest and Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center, Corvallis, Oregon investigates the environmental fate, biological accumulation, and adverse effects of contaminants on wildlife populations.  Contaminants currently or previously under investigation include insecticides (organochlorines, organophosphates, carbamates), metals from mining (lead, mercury), flame retardants, herbicides and fungicides, industrial chemicals, tributyltin, endocrine disruptors, immune suppressors, lead shot, and drainwater from agricultural areas (boron and selenium).  Our mission at USGS is to provide research and technical assistance in support of sound management and conservation of biological systems in the western United States.
