Access to EPA Servers and TSSMS Accounts

Access to EPA servers is available via computers within the Agency's network and on a restricted basis to those outside the network. All EPA employees using the Agency's network can view Web pages residing on the EPA's public access and Intranet servers. The ability to publish and manage Web pages on these servers requires that the EPA data owner first apply for an account by following the steps outlined below under Access to EPA servers from the EPA network.

For contractors, other business partners and EPA staff using computers outside of the Agency's network, access to EPA's Intranet and Internet require that the appropriate forms be submitted and approved. Procedures and links to forms for this type of access are provided below under Access to EPA Servers from Outside the Agency.

Access to EPA servers from the EPA network

1. To be a data owner (i.e., manage information and data) on the Agency's public access or Intranet servers, you first must have FTP and/or Telnet client software on your computer.

A new web area on EPA’s web server is created by establishing a new account in EPA’s Time Sharing Services Management System (TSSMS). TSSMS controls the registration of accounts for access to the computers and other resources in the National Computer Center (NCC). To set up a new TSSMS account, (or to add another user to an existing account) please contact your ADP Coordinator. Your ADP Coordinator also can assign a user Id if you do not already have one.

2. Time Sharing System Management System (TSSMS) will generate the account, user ID or perform modifications. TSSMS will mail the user account information (Account name, User ID, Password) to you. For security reasons, this information cannot be provided over the phone.

3. If you require access to a public access system, the Office Director or equivalent in the Regions must approve this by emailing the following form to web-requests@epa.gov: http://intranet.epa.gov/agcyintr/info_security/revised-att.htm. Entering IntranetOnce approved, you will have Telnet/FTP access to that system Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM EST.

Please note the following:

Functional Public Access Update Policy

1. Standard Public Access Update Period will be 8:00am to 10:00pm Eastern Monday through Friday.

2. Emergency Public Access Update provision will allow continuous (7x24) update access for up to 10 persons as designated by the Director of OEI's Information Access Division, currently Emma McNamara.

Access to EPA Servers from Outside the Agency

There are two ways to gain access to EPA's servers from a computer that is outside the Agency's network. These include:

1. Anytime Anyplace Access (AAA). Entering Intranet AAA is the Agency's answer to changing requirements for remote access. It incorporates encryption of the entire remote session over the Internet and uses dynamic, two-factor authentification. It is available from EPA's Office of Environmental Information. For more information and pricing, please contact your Working Capital Fund service manager. If a contractor, please contact you EPA counterpart.

2. SecuRemote. Entering Intranet SecuRemote is used to access EPA's system if you do not have Anytime Anyplace Access (AAA). To use this service, you will need to do the following:

To find your ADP Coordinator , call the EPA Call Center at 1-866-411-4EPA (4372) The Webman application Entering Intranet also has useful reports regarding ADP Coordinators and TSSMS accounts for epapub.epa.gov only, the Web server for public access. See the ADP Coordinator report Entering Intranet and the TSSMS Query report. Entering Intranet Note that these reports are updated only periodically and may not contain the most recent data.

Once you decide how you will access EPA's system, you also will need to do obtain the following approvals:

Functional Public Access Update Policy

1. Standard Public Access Update Period will be 8:00am to 10:00pm Eastern Monday through Friday.

2. Emergency Public Access Update provision will allow continuous(7x24)update access for up to 10 persons as designated by the Director of OEI's Information Access Division, currently Emma McNamara.
