They will continue to monitor and control environmental risks by maintaining and/or implementing the following processes:
- Enforce and maintain road speed limit policies;
- Review vehicle mile per gallon (mpg) performance based on “Qualcom Sensor Trac” data collected weekly to meet the company’s mpg goals;
- Use automated inflation systems on our trailers (50% of the fleet is equipped with the system; the remaining fleet will be equipped over the next 60 months);
- Equip 100% of their tractors with automated load planning and dispatch and satellite communication technologies to ensure travel and fuel efficiencies;
- Add aerodynamic packages to 100% of their tractors;
- Upgrade 70% of their tractors with 2004-2005-2006-2007 EGR-1 engines; the remaining 30% of the tractor fleet will be replaced with 2007 engines in 2007;
- Test 2007-08 EGR-2 engines and APUs for potential use in the fleet;
- Add low rolling-resistance tires on the trailer fleet (50% of the trailers are currently use low rolling resistance fuel efficient tires; the remaining trailers will be equipped over the next 36 months);
- Provide driver training on using fuel-efficient driving techniques.
