Preservation

(original letter mailed to all State Transportation Department CEOs from the North Carolina Department of Transportation)

Dear ____________________:

I am pleased to announce the implementation of a new program now available to state transportation departments through AASHTO. The Transportation System Preservation Technical Services Program (TSP2), developed and administered by the National Center for Pavement Preservation (NCPP), will provide technical assistance and information exchange between state agencies on preservation-related technical topics. Attached is a briefing paper that will further explain the purpose and scope of services offered through TSP2.

This program is funded by contributing agencies. If your state is not currently a participating agency, I encourage you to consider supporting this program. The need for this program was identified and supported by the AASHTO Subcommittee on Maintenance and became reality last month when the contract with NCPP was executed. For more information, please contact me or the NCPP as indicated in the briefing.

  Sincerely,

/s/ W. S. Varnedoe, P.E.
Chief Engineer - Operations, NCDOT
Chair, TSP2 Oversight Panel
