The California Space Institute (CalSpace) fosters world-class research and development in space-related and remote-sensing science and engineering. With more than 120 affiliated researchers at five UC campuses, CalSpace performs research on novel satellite sensors, precision agriculture, global climate change, the movement of sea ice and a wide spectrum of space-related projects. It also facilitate public/private partnerships and workforce development in space and aerospace.

If you want to study phenomena like the Cygnus Loop, you might want to pursue graduate studies in a multi-disciplinary program like San Diego's Center for Astrophysics and Space Sciences, which offers graduate and research opportunities for students in physics, chemistry or electrical and computer engineering.
