The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) welcomes data respondents to the 2007 National
Public Education Financial Survey (NPEFS). The NPEFS survey is a key component of the U.S. Department
of Education's Common Core of Data (CCD), an annual collection of basic information about the nation's
public elementary and secondary schools.
NPEFS collects state-level school finance data derived from the administrative and fiscal records of
the 50 state education agencies (SEAs), the District of Columbia, and five outlying areas under U.S.
jurisdiction (Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Northern Marianas, and American Samoa).
The NPEFS survey is conducted annually by NCES and the Governments Division of the U.S. Census Bureau.
NCES sponsors the survey, while the Census Bureau serves as the primary data collection agent. NCES
and the Census Bureau are authorized to collect NPEFS survey data by Congress through section 406(b)
of the General Education Provisions Act (20 U.S.C. 1221e-1).
Using this website, NPEFS respondents can submit/edit survey data, complete the fiscal data plan,
and upload or download any files necessary for data submission. For questions regarding the survey, please
visit the FAQ or contact appropriate NPEFS staff.
Note: Crosswalk respondents must log in below to access the redesigned Crosswalk System application. The new Crosswalk application is web-based and features numerous functionality upgrades. Crosswalk respondents can no longer use the old, downloadable Crosswalk software to submit NPEFS data.
