Keyholders and Coordinators
Keyholders
The keyholder is the person responsible for ensuring that all data are submitted
accurately and that all surveys are locked.
- Only one person can serve as the keyholder for an institution.
- Up to six additional persons may have a User ID and password (in order to enter or review data).
The keyholder can generate these additional User IDs and passwords. To reassign User IDs to new
individuals, contact the HELP Desk (1-877-225-2568 or ipedshelp@rti.org)
Coordinators
IPEDS coordinators' roles vary from state to state and from institution to institution.
- Coordinators may have access to edit data or may only be able to view data, depending on how each institution is
set up in the IPEDS system.
- Some coordinators have an additional lock to apply after institutional keyholders have applied their lock.
- Some institutions may have several coordinators, while others have no coordinator. Many states or systems have
one or more coordinators.
Tip: To add users, select "Additional Users/Passwords" under the "Tools" menu within the Data Collection
System.
