FHWA Resource Center

CONSTRUCTION AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT TEAM

The Construction and Project Management Team at the FHWA Resource Center helps support the construction management process by providing technical assistance, technology transfer, training, and interagency coordination.

Our vision is that transportation projects and management will be based on state of the art construction practices, thereby improving the quality of our nation’s infrastructure.

Our mission is to promote effective practices nationwide through training and technical assistance and technology deployment.

The FHWA Resource Center Construction and Project Management Technical Service Team offers expertise in a number of specialty areas:

  • Quality Highway Construction: Accelerated Construction Technology Transfer, Contract Administration Core Curriculum Training, Delivery of FHWA’s Construction Program Management and Inspection Guide, Reviews That Get Results Training, Quality Assurance Programs and Regulations, Performance Related Specifications, and Technical Input of Construction Quality: Monitoring and Oversight.
  • Contract Administration Technical Assistance: Recommend Strategies and Identify Opportunities, Coordinate Group Training, and Provide Community of Practice Information.
  • Innovative Contracting Solutions, Alternative Contracting: Cost Plus Time Bidding, Design Build, Lane Rental, and Warranty Clauses.
  • Mobile Work Zone Protection Device: Designed as the result of the need for a device to protect workers in the work zone.
  • Global Positioning System (GPS) Surveying:Potential uses for GPS within the highway community are diverse and range from Geographical Information Systems to automated equipment.
  • Construction Claim Technical Assistance: Project Specific Technical Assistance, Claims Avoidance Strategies, and Coordinated Group Training.
