U.S. DOT Center for Climate Change and Environmental Forecasting, Project on Integration of Climate Change Goals into Statewide and Metropolitan Planning

The Volpe Center is undertaking a project for the U.S. DOT Center for Climate Change and Environmental Forecasting on integration of climate change goals into statewide and metropolitan planning. The project will examine innovative planning processes developed by states, metropolitan planning organizations, and local governments to consider goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in their transportation planning. The project will focus on institutional arrangements, technical analysis to balance climate change goals with more traditional transportation goals, emission reductions achieved or forecast, and incentives to include climate change goals. The project report will provide insights to assist other states and local areas, and suggestions for U.S. DOT on opportunities to reflect climate change goals into policies and programs.
