U.S. Labor Department pairs town hall meetings, Traveling Resource Center
WASHINGTON During the first week of February, the U.S. Department of Labor will visit New Kensington, Pa., to provide information about the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA). Through town hall meetings, officials will present details about a new class of former employees of the Nuclear Materials and Equipment Corp. in Apollo, Pa., recently added to the act’s Special Exposure Cohort (SEC), as well as an overview of EEOICPA Parts B and E. Additionally, the department’s Traveling Resource Center personnel will be available to help individuals interested in filing compensation claims.
The EEOICPA provides compensation and medical benefits to employees who became ill as a result of working in the nuclear weapons industry. The SEC allows eligible claims to be compensated without the completion of a radiation dose reconstruction or determination of the probability of causation.
For additional information about the meetings or to schedule an appointment for claim-filing assistance, call 800-941-3943 toll-free. Pre-registration is not required to participate in either activity.
