Performance Assessment
Annual Performance Reports
Through Fiscal Year 2006, the National Science Foundation produced an annual Performance and Accountability Report (PAR) and an annual Performance Highlights Report. Beginning in Fiscal Year 2007, rather than produce a PAR, the Foundation opted to write an annual performance report as part of the Performance Information Chapter of the FY 2009 Budget Request to Congress. Additional performance information for Fiscal Year 2007 that is not included in the Budget chapter is listed below.
- FY 2007 Performance Highlights Report
- FY 2007 Performance Report in the FY 2009 Budget Request to Congress
See the Performance Information chapter for detailed results of achievements under NSF's three long-term strategic outcome goals and its annual Stewardship performance areas. For detailed results of the Foundation's annual PART goals, see below.
- FY 2007 Annual PART Performance Goal Results
In FY 2007, NSF monitored 20 quantitative performance goals associated with NSF's Program Assessment Rating Tool (PART) evaluations. These annual performance goals address program efficiency and effectiveness. This report groups these goals into three broad performance areas: time-to-decision for proposals, broadening participation among underrepresented groups and diverse institutions throughout the United States, and managing large facilities.
- Additional Information for the FY 2007 Performance Report
The following additional information relating to the FY 2007 performance report is: Statement from the NSF Director, Information on Use of Non-Federal Parties, Classified Appendixes not Available to the Public, Analysis of Tax Expenditures, and Waivers of Administrative Requirements. This information normally appears in the PAR, but since NSF did not publish a PAR for FY 2007, the information is presented in this report.
- FY 2007 Table of External Evaluations
Each year NSF provides information on program assessments and evaluations other than Committee of Visitor and Advisory Committee assessments. These studies were compiled by third parties and are used by NSF programs to set new priorities in a field or to document progress in a particular area. Reports (other than COV reports) produced by NSF are available using NSF's online document system and the publication number indicated. Reports are available at http://www.nsf.gov/publications/.
