Western Ecological Research Center (WERC)

The Western Ecological Research Center (WERC) focuses on the varied ecosystems of the Pacific Southwest—including deserts, rivers, and marine coasts—within the states of California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona. Emphasis is placed on fire science; environmental contaminants; invasive plant species; and the ecology of birds, mammals, amphibians and reptiles.
