How EPA Supports the President’s Management Agenda
In 2001, the President’s Management Agenda (PMA) (PDF Format )outlined a strategy to reform the management and performance of the Federal government to make it citizen-centered, results-oriented, and market-based. The White House Office of Management and Budget uses a stop-light system of red, yellow, or green to rate agencies' performance each quarter for each initiative in which they take part. Each quarter Executive Branch Management Scorecards are posted at the Results.gov website.
Also, the 2006 President’s Management Agenda Results Report (PDF Format )summarizes what the government has accomplished in support of each of the PMA initiatives.
EPA is working on several Executive Branch initiatives to strengthen the effectiveness, efficiency, and accountability of our programs. The Office of the Chief Financial Officer coordinates the Agency’s efforts under several of these initiatives and coordinates with the Offices of Environmental Information, Administration and Resources Management, and Research and Development on others. EPA contributes to the following PMA initiatives:
- Human Capital
- Competitive Sourcing
- Improved Financial Performance
- E-Government
- Eliminating Improper Payments
- Performance Improvement Initiative (formerly Budget and Performance Integration). One part of the Performance Improvement Initiative relates to the government-wide Program Assessment Rating Tool (PART). The website ExpectMore.gov informs the public about which Federal programs are successful and which need to improve performance according to the PART. EPA's PART ratings on Expect More.gov can be found at http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/expectmore/agency/020.html.
