To support Community Action Teams of cultural and economic development professionals. The teams will work within rural, suburban, and urban communities in New York state to develop strategies to improve resources for the arts and cultural industry.

To support the Strategic Alliances and Partnerships Initiative. Developed in response to a 2003 Americans for the Arts (AFTA) strategic planning process, this initiative will better focus the organization's longstanding efforts to strengthen the work of its core constituency -- nearly 4,000 local arts agencies located throughout the country.

To support Arts Card, an entrepreneurial arts marketing tool using new technology to introduce audiences to the arts. Similar to a retail gift card, an arts card will be redeemable at participating arts organizations throughout King County.

To support a community cultural planning process, including an initial assessment and the development of a culminating action plan. The inclusive, community-wide planning process will include both nonprofit and commercial arts organizations in the development of a plan to more effectively support local nonprofit art resources.

To support a series of statewide and regional conferences focusing on arts management, community development, and leadership initiatives. Michigan Association of Community Arts Agencies (MACAA) provides direct services to nearly 3,000 arts and cultural organizations located in Michigan's 83 counties.

In partnership with the Missouri Association of Community Arts Agencies, PAMI provides intensive training for executive directors and staff of small and mid-sized organizations located primarily within the prairie states of Middle America.

To support the first phase of the preservation of the commission's 18th- and 19th-century American portrait collection. Portraits of James Kent by Rembrandt Peale, Jacob Brown by John Wesley Jarvis, and Andrew Jackson by John Vanderlyn will be conserved.

To support Media Direct, a residency program for contemporary visual artists. The project will place artists in residencies at media and communications-oriented businesses, and will include the production of a Web-based catalogue and exhibitions of the newly created work at the Art Center's main gallery.

To support the Community Arts Fund (CAF). Now in its 15th year, the CAF will provide grants to support community-based artistic programs throughout Santa Clara County.

To support the Carved in Stone exhibition and accompanying artist residency program, Indiana Limestone Sculpture Symposium. The concurrent programs, which highlight southern Indiana's rich limestone heritage, will take place in Monroe County, Indiana, and attract limestone sculptors from throughout the United States.

To support Songs of the Earth: Picccolo Spoleto 2006 presents a Harmonic Convergence of Music in Nature. Piccolo Spoleto, the outreach arm of Spoleto Festival USA, will present a series of masterworks for orchestra and ballet in Charleston's natural settings, as a centerpiece of the 2006 Festival program.

To support the Kansas City Kansas Street Blues Festival. Kaw Valley Arts & Humanities works with other city entities to present the festival that highlights the contributions of regional artists, and Kansas City's history in the development of the blues genre.

To support the Stories of Home Project, a consortium project lead by visual artist Pepón Osaria. Working in partnership with the Medici Foundation, the multidisciplinary public art project will use local families' stories to create sculptural reflections of home.

To support Workspace: 120 Broadway, an artist residency program. Workspace provides emerging to mid-career artists the opportunity to create new site-inspired work and to share that work with critics, curators, and new audiences through studio visits and an Open Studio weekend.

To support the Visiting Artist Series. Focused on arts education and community outreach, the Series will present nationally acclaimed artists in residencies at schools and non-traditional sites throughout a six-county, rural, and urban region.

To support Tribute to the Dorseys, a program inducting Big Band's Dorsey Brothers into the Council's Arts Hall of Fame. As part of the program, the New York Pops with Skitch Henderson and the Buddy Morrow Orchestra will honor native sons Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey with performances and musical workshops.

To support the creation of new work by Chris Burns and Stomu Miyazaki. The two Westchester artists have been selected to create two large-scale works for installation in the Council's gallery, the Grand Banking Room of the Arts Exchange.
