This image shows soil on the doors of the Thermal and Evolved Gas Analyzer
(TEGA) onboard NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander. The image was taken by the
lander's Robotic Arm Camera on the 131st Martian day, or sol, of the
mission (Oct. 7, 2008). This sample delivered to TEGA was named "Rosy
Red."
The Phoenix Mission is led by the University of Arizona, Tucson, on behalf
of NASA. Project management of the mission is by NASA's Jet Propulsion
Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif. Spacecraft development is by Lockheed Martin
Space Systems, Denver.
