Read Me File for the NCES Common Core of Data Public Elementary/Secondary School Universe Survey: School Year 1999-2000:  One Year Later Files (CA, MT and PR)

The following ASCII and SAS data sets contain revised Common Core of Data Public Elementary/ Secondary School Universe Survey: 1999-2000 data for California, Montana, and Puerto Rico:

Content Changes in Revised Files:

California
* Variables MZIP99 and LZIP99: 221 cases were updated from "M" (Missing) to a non-missing value.
* Variables LOCALE99 and ILOCAL99: 7 locale codes and 6 locale code flags changed.

Montana
* Variables MEMBER99, TOTGRD99, TOTETH99, PUPTCH99: Enrollment data was corrected for 2 schools.  One school decreased 9th grade, MEMBER99, TOTGRD99, TOTETH99 by 298, which also decreased PUPTCH99; another school decreased 8th grade, MEMBER99, TOTGRD99, and TOTETH99 by 623, which also decreased PUPTCH99.  The school universe aggregated enrollment total decreased by 921.  

Puerto Rico
* Variable SEASCH changed for one record.

Merging One Year Later Files with Complete Files:
These revised files can be merged into the below list pre-existing Common Core of Data Public Elementary/Secondary School Universe Survey: 1999-2000 data files.  The FIPS code can be used for each state to delete and replace the schools.  The FIPS codes for California=06, Montana=30, and Puerto Rico=72.
