Brownfields Success Story
The site, in the Hillyard neighborhood of Spokane, was contaminated with PCBs, lead and solvents from 50 years of metal recycling. The area has now been planted with grass, and a parking lot has been installed over the hazardous waste containment cell. Construction of the sports complex will be completed by Spring 2002. As a result of the cleanup, much needed affordable housing has been constructed north of the property.
