Operations Support Technician

United States Secret Service (USSS) Positions

GS-1802-5/6/7/8

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The Operations Support Technician performs a wide range of administrative, technical and quasi-investigative duties, assisting special agents on surveillance and undercover assignments. Responsibilities include operating and monitoring video and sound equipment; overseeing and controlling the assignment, utilization, maintenance and repair of a fleet of automobiles; performing routine servicing of automobiles and surveillance vans; preparing accident documentation involving official vehicles; driving a limousine, lead or follow-up vehicle for various protective details; maintaining designated security posts; accessing nationwide computer networks and systems; and operating a multi-frequency communications console unit.

KSAs:

• Knowledge of investigative techniques as they relate to surveillance, undercover and quasi-investigative duties.
• Knowledge of the various makes, models and procedures for servicing protective vehicles.
• Knowledge of installation and maintenance procedures for fixed and mobile radio equipment and official vehicles.
