Investigative Assistant

United States Secret Service (USSS) Positions

Series and Grade:

GS-1802-5/6/7

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The USSS Investigative Assistant performs a wide range of quasi-investigative and protective support duties; provides administrative and technical assistance to Special Agents in the areas of investigation, protection, counterfeit, asset forfeiture and financial crimes; conducts preliminary searches of and/or inputs data into computerized criminal databases to develop background information on subjects of investigations; acts as a liaison, to local, state and federal law enforcement agencies or officials; trouble shoots and provides computer maintenance or service to the office; and serves as backup to the Administrative Officer as needed.

KSAs:

• Knowledge of rules, regulations, and procedures governing the investigative process as it relates to financial crimes, forgery, counterfeit, and protective cases.
• Knowledge of computer applications, search and retrieval techniques and procedures.
• Ability to gather facts and communicate findings both orally and in writing.
