Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The Special Security Officer assists the Senior Special Security Officers in the development, installation, and management of the Security Office’s security program involving all internal security disciplines required for the daily operation of two to three Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs); assists in the development, implementation and monitoring of policies, instructions, procedures, control systems and methods for delegation and exercise of classification and declassification authority; develops classification guides, document marking, safeguarding, and procedures for use of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI); conducts background investigations; performs personnel adjudication functions; manages personnel access controls and physical storage and control; assists with security education; and transmits, transfers, downgrades, and destroys information. The Special Security Officer is also responsible for one or more of the following internal security disciplines: personnel security, communications security, physical security, COMSEC, information security, and/or information systems security; the TSIS liaison function when modifications, construction, repair, and maintenance of the physical plant occur; and the investigation of TSIS facility violations.
Requirements:
- Skill in administering national security policies, orders and directives in safeguarding of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and SCIF operations.
- Skill in developing and implementing a general security program, including personnel security adjudications and SCI background investigations.
