About advisories
Check the status of Metro trains, buses, elevators and escalators throughout the system using the:
- Metrorail service disruption report that describes current Metrorail operating status, including any delays of 10 minutes or more. These same updates are available:
- in the news "crawler" that appears at the top of all site pages when disruptions are in effect.
- as eAlerts, a custom e-mail service notifying you of disruptions affecting the lines and times of day you wish to monitor.
- Metrobus service disruption report that describes current Metrobus disruptions. These same updates are available:
- in the news "crawler" that appears at the top of all site pages when disruptions are in effect.
- In addition, there are metrobus advisories that detail route changes, long-term detours and public hearings on bus service. Also check the Metro homepage news headlines for news of short-term detours and delays, such as weekend Metrobus detours.
- Elevator/escalator report that provides detailed information on Metrorail elevator and escalator status. This information is also available:
- by ELLEN, a custom elevator status e-mail notification service
- by selecting a station of interest on the Metrorail system map
- in a list of elevators that are out of service
- via a recorded message elevator status message at 202/962-1212.
- MetroAccess eAlerts is an email subscription service for notifying customers of major service disruptions due to weather and other emergencies.
