Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The USSS Dispatcher operates a multi-frequency communications console unit to maintain vocal liaison with special agents in a large number of mobile, base and portable units of the field office and subordinate offices; transmits and receives messages using complex telecommunications equipment; networks with a variety of law enforcement agencies to exchange/share investigative information; researches and develops investigative leads; monitors law enforcement frequencies; and receives telephonic information from payees, second endorsers, postal inspectors, and informants. The Dispatcher also prepares and types routine incident forms; maintains a log of unusual incidents; uses special procedures in cases of bomb threats, criminal surveillance, and protective movements and activities; and serves at the command post when required.
