Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The Support Services Specialist accounts for firearms used by the assigned branch and accounts for all ammunition and equipment purchased, stored, and used by the branch. The other duties include developing, maintaining, and controlling the records of receipt, storage, issue, transfer, survey, physical inventory and similar transactions with respect to firearms, ammunition, and supplies for the branch. The SSS enters information into local property/inventory control systems, list prepares and submits periodic reports to management staff of the branch and the FLETC Property Management Division and provides input into budget preparation. The SSS also has control and security responsibilities included full oversight responsibility for ammunition and approximately 1500 weapons and periodic validation of the property utilization, acquisition, accountability, distribution, and reconciliation processes.

Other responsibilities include preparing correspondence to various service managers, agencies, vendors, and contractors related to incumbent';s assigned duties; using Intra-net applications, spreadsheets, databases and graphic software to maintain records and prepare reports, and carrying out the assigned duties of Contracting Officers Technical Representative.
