Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The Security Specialist performs a wide range of duties related to the review and screening of foreign nationals who visit DHS component agencies and/or who have contact with DHS employees, including tracking policy issues related to such visits and managing and updating a foreign visitor tracking system and a foreign visitor database; implementing policies, procedures, and methods for safeguarding information, property, personnel, operations and materials; reviewing intelligence and counterintelligence reports; assessing security vulnerabilities related to foreign contacts and visits; and recommending or designing security enhancements to ensure that foreign visits do not result in the loss of vital information or the destruction of government facilities.

Requirements:

Applicants must have one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position successfully.
