Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The Security Specialist responsibilities include supporting the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the analysis and evaluation of the character, background, and history of employees, candidates for employment, and other persons being considered for access to classified or other sensitive information, materials, or worksites. He/she is involved in implementing policies, procedures, and methods for safeguarding information, property, personnel, operations, and materials; reviewing intelligence and counter intelligence reports; assessing security vulnerabilities related to foreign contacts; and recommending or designing security enhancements to prevent the loss of vital information or the destruction of government facilities.

Requirements:

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
