Great American Voices launches at DC reception

On September 28, 2005, Great American Voices launched with a reception at the Smithsonian American Art Museum's Renwick Gallery in Washington, DC. Highlights included a performance of four songs by members of the Washington National Opera Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program, as well as a special appearance by renowned soprano Harolyn Blackwell, who sang "Chacun le sait" from Daughters of the Regiment and "Glitter and Be Gay" from Candide.

Attendees included representatives from The Boeing Company and OPERA America (project partners),  the Department of Defense and military services, staff from numerous opera companies participating in the Great American Voices tour, members of Congress, and special guests from the opera world.
