A High Profile U.S. Business Center at the 2008 GPS

The 2008 Global Petroleum Show (GPS) in Calgary, Alberta on June 10-12, was declared the world's largest trade show for the oil and gas sector with a record-breaking attendance of 62,000 visitors. CS Canada was proudly at center stage at the 2008 GPS with a high profile U.S. Business Center featuring: the States of Georgia and Louisiana; twelve individual companies; and a CS Calgary Business Information Office (BIO).

Our U.S. exhibitors promoted a wide range of products and services, from fire retardant textiles and safety equipment to lighting, welding and hydraulic equipment. In addition to the U.S. Business Center, CS Calgary organized an extremely successful breakfast briefing for U.S. exhibitors on June 10, featuring industry experts from the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) and Calgary Economic Development (CED) who provided participants with a highly appreciated overview of Canada's oil and gas sector and Alberta's dynamic and growing economy. In addition over 100 guests, including industry professionals, provincial and federal government officials, and media attended a highly energized networking reception in honor of the U.S. participants hosted by CS Calgary and SCO Stephan Wasylko.

Exhibitors in the U.S. Business Center at the 2008 GPS freely expressed their appreciation and thanks to our CS Calgary Team, including Commercial Specialist Crystal Roberts, WAE Commercial Assistant Timothy Howard, and CTDY Trade Specialist from New Orleans, Delilah DeSouza, for their great support and attention. In discussions with CS staff, several exhibitors confirmed their strong interest in working with CS Calgary to follow up on strong business leads identified during the event and expressed their desire to participate in future CS trade promotion events throughout Canada.
