WASHINGTON – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today that Verdi White has been named federal security director at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

Since last year, White has served as TSA's federal security director at Fairbanks (Alaska) International Airport. In that position he was responsible for coordinating TSA activities and regulatory actions in Northern Alaska.

"Verdi White's leadership abilities and law enforcement experience will allow the TSA to continue to achieve and exceed our goals at Sky Harbor," said Mo McGowan, TSA assistant administrator for Security Operations. "I am pleased that Verdi has accepted this position, and before too long, the men and women at Sky Harbor will understand why this committed law enforcement professional has moved on to Phoenix."

White, who was a trooper with the Utah Highway Patrol for 20 years, also has served as deputy commissioner, Utah Department of Public Safety; deputy assistant to the governor for homeland security; director of homeland security and emergency services in Utah; and served on the Utah Olympic Public Safety Command.

White holds a Bachelor of Science in sociology and criminology and a Master of Science in human resource economics, both from the University of Utah.
