WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced it has signed a contract with Siemens Maintenance Services, LLC of Richardson, Texas following an open competition for an Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) contract.  Siemens will provide maintenance for most of TSA’s screening equipment, including metal detectors, X-ray machines, and Explosives Trace Detectors (ETDs) at the nation’s 450 commercial airports.

“This open, competitive process provides TSA with the highest quality service possible at the best value to the taxpayers,” said Rear Adm. David M. Stone, USN (Ret.), Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security for TSA.  “TSA looks forward to working with Siemens to ensure our screening equipment continues to operate in optimal condition.”

The Firm Fixed Price contract is valued at $46.9 million through September 30, 2005, with four one-year options.  Siemens will be responsible for all ILS activities including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance for over 12,000 pieces of equipment.  The contract includes managing a call center through which equipment failures are reported, as well as warehousing equipment and property administration.
